Raksha Bandhan is a Hindu festival, which translates to "bond of protection". It is observed on the full moon day of the Hindu luni-solar calendar month of Shravana, and is observed as a day for celebrations of love and duty between brothers and sisters. On this auspicious day, a sister ties a rakhi on her brother's wrist with a prayer for his prosperity and happiness. This symbolizes a sister's love while the brother pledges to protect her and take care of his sister under all circumstances.
