Gurjant Singh aka Gurr-Vir Singh, a struggling singer from Punjab, was arrested on Saturday by the police of Punjab, along with his accomplice. The police are said to have recovered drugs and illegal weapons from their possession at the time of the arrest. The two have been booked under the NDPS Act and Arms Act.

The singer was arrested by Special Task Force (STF) of Punjab for allegedly peddling one and a half kilograms of heroin. The singer had earlier magnified guns and violence in his song ‘Jatt Mehakma 2’.

The two men were said to have been traveling in a Ford Figo hatchback. After unexpectedly driving into a special Naka set up by the police on a tip-off, they reversed and tried to speed away upon seeing the checkpoint. They were chased by the policemen who later seized their car.

Other than heroin,  Officials have also recovered a revolver, five live cartridges and a mobile phone with an Italian SIM card. If reports are to be believed, the two used to make WhatsApp calls through the Italian number so that cops could not trace their calls.

Sukhwinder Singh Bhullar, AIG, and STF stated that the offenders were associated with smugglers in countries like Afghanistan, Pakistan, Vancouver (Canada) and Dubai (UAE). He also stated that it is believed that Gurjant used drug money to produce his music videos.

Gurjant’s accomplice Surjit Singh confessed he was into drug peddling for the past two years, and that Gurjant was into smuggling for the past six months.
